I never thought much about what I wanted to be when I was growing. It was simple enough, I would be like my father. I wanted to be everything, go everywhere – or anyway, away from where I was. I got to be a sailor for a while, and other things, and in the end I was befriended by life. Not because I had gifts, but because I went looking for it, because I was determined to be for those I love and who have loved me.

I love this, Kelly. Poignant, honest, straightforward. I especially like, “In the end I was befriended by life.” I just love that line!
