Remember twenty years ago, when you bought a pair of jeans and you wore them until they fell off you.

We consumed those jeans till they were in shreds. Now, we buy jeans that have already been consumed; like they already fell off someone. What’s new, it seems, is just how much we are prepared to pay for jeans that have been torn to shreds before anyone had them on.

It makes me want to go to the mall and find a young twenty-five-year-old. I’m old, worn out, and faded. She should take me home immediately!

      Thanks for the chuckle.

And thanks for the thought-provoking “buy used-looking jeans” . . . which led me to thinking about consumerism. My motto always has been: “Use it up, wear it out. Make it do, or do without.” I still live by those “ideals.”

I have a closet full of blouses, slacks, jackets and skirts that I have bought because I just loved the fabric they were made of. I’ve always wondered, when does a jacket become a Blazer? Is it the color of the jackets?
Formal ‘Blazers’ are more expensive, or is it the type of fabric, or whether or not it is lined with a slightly different shade of fabric of which the jacket or blazer is constructed.
I have a few jackets that I had planned on wearing until they were worn out, however, as I grow older, I seem to gain weight about 10 pounds each decade. My very favorite jacket is still in my closet after 40 years – you do the math. Will I ever be able to wear it again?
I have the same problem with a very favorite dress. I just know that I CAN lose that 30 pounds that I didn’t have back then.
Yes, I do donate most of the clothing that no longer fits me, but only if there are no important memories when I see that dress. Perhaps I should try framing the two most important pieces of clothing when it comes to memories. If I were a size one, and 4 ft. 6 inches tall I would try that, BUT At 5’10”, I don’t have the wall space they would take.

Hi justinefos, This is hilarious and I can relate! The jackets, or would that be blazers? . . . haven taken on delightful personalities. I especially like the last line. Great humor! Thanks for posting.
