When the day is dark<\/p>\n\n\n\n

humor will light my way.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

When the world crumbles<\/p>\n\n\n\n

humor will shore me up.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

Tears will flow, not from sorrow,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

but born of laugher.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

Nothing is so bad that<\/p>\n\n\n\n

humor cannot soften it.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

Nothing is so sacred that<\/p>\n\n\n\n

humor cannot humanize it.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

When the only way “through”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

is a walk of fire,<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

humor will insulate my path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As long as we can laugh<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

at the absurdities of life,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

we can persevere.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

Humor cannot change our challenges,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

but it can grease the skids,<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

shepherd us along,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

help us to survive.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

I will face each day with humor and the grace it provides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As long as I can laugh, I can breathe.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

Humor is my lifeboat,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

my safe space,<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

the fuel my soul runs on.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

Karen was born and raised in Petaluma, California. Upon graduating from UC Davis, she worked in San Francisco and New York City in corporate finance. After a 30-year career as a mom and \u201cprofessional\u201d volunteer in Scottsdale, AZ, Karen returned to her beloved hometown in Sonoma County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She delights in difficult crossword puzzles, the Santa Rosa Symphony, and traveling with  her husband (of 35 years) James.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
