Writing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A silver tongue would be nice<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A pen that wrote golden prose<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or poetry would be better.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

How would it feel to be Billy Collins<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whose books sit<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On my bedside table?<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

His small journeys<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make magic of the mundane<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of ordinary daily events<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

One poem describes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sitting at his desk words flow<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seemingly without his bidding<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

I sit at my desk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pen posed over paper<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nothing comes out<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

I could doodle a picture<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make it look like a word<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And start from there<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

Would it be like opening a tap<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With words pouring out<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given enough time?<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

My words wouldn’t be golden<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nor even silver<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Probably just tin<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

Maybe Billie’s don’t flow golden<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until he works and revises<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As most good writers must<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

It’s like panning for gold<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lot of water flows<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before a bit of gold dust settles<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

Maybe more discipline<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An ear for the music<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use metaphors and similes<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

I might rise above tin, to copper?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roses blooming, lilacs too<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spring arriving, so much to do<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

Am I running late?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look at that\u2014it’s almost eight<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Cheryl Moore<\/strong> came to California in the early 1960\u2019s, she realized she\u2019d found her home. Then moving to Petaluma in the 70\u2019s, she was as close to paradise as she\u2019d ever be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travel has taken her to Europe and the Middle East. She has written on these memories as well as on the flora and fauna of the local river and her own garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
