The challenge of freewriting is getting Self out of the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let your writing flow with no judging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Release your worries about your writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allow your creative mind to play with words. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With freewrites, you are writing for yourself, not for an audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Give yourself permission to be open to whatever comes up while you are writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A freewrite is a way of writing freely, with no worries about the outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choose a time when you will not be interrupted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select a prompt. Set a timer for 15-20 minutes and write without pausing to think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you run out of things to say, write \u201cI remember\u201d and go from there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or, write \u201cWhat I really want to say . . .\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Give your inner critic time off during this writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lists are a great way to inspire freewrites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

~ Make a list of issues and experiences, important or trivial, in your life right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

~ What frustrated you in the past month?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

~ What made you laugh or cry?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

~ What caused you to lose your temper?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

~ What was the worst thing that happened?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

~ What was the best thing that happened?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

~What was the most disturbing or weird thing that happened?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choose one thing from your list and write about it. Write whatever comes to mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you are finished writing, take a deep breath in and release your breath out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next prompt<\/strong>: Write about the same incident from the other person\u2019s point of view. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next prompt:<\/strong> Think back to when you were a teenager or a young adult and respond to one of the questions above as your younger self would have responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
