From The Roots<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n By Su Shafer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I need to let go of the uncertainty<\/p>\n\n\n\n That I am anything else but a dragon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just a little dragon<\/p>\n\n\n\n A little wood dragon<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hatched from a little crystal egg<\/p>\n\n\n\n As green as the nest of moss it was laid in<\/p>\n\n\n\n Carefully built in the cool leaf mould<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gathered in the crook of Granny Maple\u2019s<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gnarled old roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is a fire in my heart<\/p>\n\n\n\n But wood dragons are careful<\/p>\n\n\n\n Creatures of the trees<\/p>\n\n\n\n Where fire is seldom welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Shy as a brown creeper,<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hiding in plain sight,<\/p>\n\n\n\n Few people see me<\/p>\n\n\n\n And the ones who do<\/p>\n\n\n\n Can hardly believe it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Su Shafer<\/strong> is a creative crafter, fabricating bits of writing in poetry and short stories, and other bits into characters that appear in paintings or sit on various bookshelves and coffee tables.
