Sending your work to\nliterary magazines puts you at the whim of editors\u2014but there\u2019s more in your power\nthan you may realize.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Every few months, ask yourself why you\u2019re doing this [writing]. If writing, waiting, and facing rejection make you truly miserable, maybe you should stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But if you don\u2019t want to stop, if writing is necessary, like\nbreathing, then change your way of thinking. The long wait, the long odds, the\nsometimes inscrutable aesthetic taste of the editorial staff: You have to put\nall of that aside and write new poems, essays and stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And that\u2019s a good thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because the more you write, the better you get.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dinty W.
