Feelings of grief might bring to mind images of winter&#8217;s coldness. Pablo Neruda crystalizes a wintry grief image: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Yes:\nseed germs, and grief, and everything that throbs<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>frightened\nin the crackling January light <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>will ripen, will burn, as the fruit burned ripe.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ninsights we gain by observing nature, and the poems we make which include these\ninsights, help us cope with our rage, grief and pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thewritespot.us\/marlenecullenblog\/?p=8493\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"poetry of earth (opens in a new tab)\">poetry of earth<\/a> offers us a chance to experience <em>something<\/em> more about life than our self-definition and ordinary language usually permit. Like the forest after the fire, this <em>something more<\/em> is full of new growth and unknown potential. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Writing Prompt:<\/strong> Choose an aspect of the natural world which you feel has something to teach you. It could be an animal, plant, or mineral.
