Save in a draft folder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At any given time, I have a whole bunch of\nhalf-finished chapters and blog posts on my computer begging to be edited and\ncompleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The point of this system is to think as little\nas possible and just do the next thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bucket\n#3: Edits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pull out one of those drafts and edit it. Either\nschedule it for a blog post or tuck it away in another folder called \u201cFinished\npieces.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are pieces of writing that are more or\nless ready for the world to see. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Putting\nit together<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Collect Ideas. Shoot for five ideas. Write\ndown a sentence or a phrase. Just enough to save the idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Write and Save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it\u2019s time to write, pull one of those\nideas out of that first bucket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019re done, put this piece in the\n\u201cdrafts\u201d folder and save it for later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Edit and Publish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Edit the draft. Then move it to bucket three,\nmaybe even publish it on your blog or wherever. Then go to bucket one to pull\nout a new idea and start writing again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do this every day, and you\u2019ll never run out of\nwriting topics. You\u2019ll never run out of things to edit and publish. You\u2019ll\nnever have writer\u2019s block again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As long as you remember: writing is not one thing.
