Just Write

Write from that place where the real you exists.

beach filled heart“Write from your heart. You’ll hear that a lot, but what it means is to write from what moves you, what frightens you, what makes you deeply sad, what makes you ecstatic. Remember to write from that place where the real you exists.” John Kelly, Writer Magazine, July 2015

    You came and then left
    so quickly
    It’s difficult to believe
    You were more than a
    day dream
    Made up of sunbeam
    fantasies

Yet, as I await The anesthetic of
    dreamless sleep
    Images of you and me
    Keep me awake – make
    me remember

I know – so very well
    You were here
    Becoming more than just
    another person
    Your touch brought me
    to life again
    For awhile living was
    more than beautiful

I’ve become a connoisseur of the
    taste of words
    Like the richness of ‘BRIGADOON’
as it rumbles over my tongue
Or the sweet taste of ‘kiss’, ‘Tamalpias’
    or ‘stars’
The soft full roundness of ‘Love’
    and ‘You’.

This is so lovely and fun, Justine! I love your opening line. . . “connoisseur of the taste of words.” Yum!

    To Live

To live is to experience the joy
    of uninhibited laughter
As well as the anguish known
    only
    Through losing one loved
    beyond
    understanding

It is the awe experienced during
    A perfect
    Pristine
    Sunrise
    The completion found in the
    Magnificent glow of an
    Ocean-side
    Sunset

To live is to know the wonder
    captured by a child’s eyes
    watching something
    “magical”

It is the exquisite joy shared
    when lovers embrace,
    trust,
    touch

To live is to NOT hold back
    the, “I loves…”
    that rise up
    In your heart
    and deserve
    to be released
    if, but only
    with a smile

    honoring
    the tears
    when ‘thorns of
    life’
    press
    deep enough
    to bring
    pain.

Justine, Powerful emotions conveyed through these strong verbs and descriptive nouns and adjectives. Complex emotional fullness experienced when reading your carefully chosen words. Thanks for posting.
